Pick Up and Drop Off Service

Vehicles must be collected and returned within the opening hours of the relevant rental location. Such schedules are published on our website and are available on the booking engine when making a reservation.

Motorhome vehicle preparation requires more time as compared to a regular car. Interior and exterior cleaning, as well as mechanical checks, can take several hours. Therefore, in some cases, our providers may not be able to guarantee pickup/drop off of the motorhome at the client’s requested time. Should Campervan New Zealand become aware of this, immediate notification will be provided to the client.

Vehicle Types

Motorhome/campervan rental providers are unable to guarantee a particular make or model of any vehicle. The vehicle advertised may be substituted for a similar alternative model or an upgrade.

We do guarantee that the minimum occupancy requirements of your vehicle will be met. Be advised that vehicle layout and bed configuration cannot be guaranteed.

Service Fee

Motorhomes are delivered after being cleaned both inside and out. A full tank of gas will also be provided to the client. Vehicles must be returned by the renter in the same condition as they were handed it. Outside cleaning is not necessary, but the following actions are needed:

Garbage must be disposed of, the water tank and WC tank must be emptied, the gas tank must be returned full (LPG bottle at NZD 40 each plus service charge of NZD 25), and all personal items removed from the vehicle.

Otherwise, the renter will be liable for a cleaning fee of up to NZD 500.

Modification Fee

Amendments for confirmed bookings of Motorhomes can be made at a fee of NZD 200 per change. Such a fee can be paid through the Campervan New Zealand website. Amendments to flexible bookings can be made at any point free of charge.

Fines/Fees

Violations committed during the term of the rental will incur the following fees:

  • Smoking or pets in the vehicle: NZD 500.
  • No full tank upon return: Failure to do so shall result in refill charges of fuel cost at NZD 2.50 per liter.
  • Uncleaned interior: twice the cost of the interior cleaning fee NZD 500.
  • Kitchen utensils not cleaned: NZD 500.
  • WC waste tank or water: NZD 500.
  • Unpaid fines such as parking fines or road toll fees: the cost of the fine + NZD 25.
  • Delayed return of a few hours: 20% of the deposit per delayed hour. If delayed more than four hours 100% of the deposit will be kept.

Extras

Several extras are available when booking online. Most extras can also be added upon pick up, if desired. The array of extras may change depending on the vehicle model. Only the named driver and extra drivers listed on your rental agreement can drive the vehicle. The person who rented the vehicle bears the same responsibility for the actions of any driver to whom he or she supplies the vehicle as for his or her own.

Insurance

Third party liability is the minimum amount of coverage a driver must have as stipulated by the laws of New Zealand. This also applies to the amount of individual driver liability. Third-party coverage and basic personal accident insurance are included in your rental by default, as is required by the laws of New Zealand.

We have listed below a description of all available insurance policies:

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW):

It ensures the lessee against the risks of driver liability. The excess depends on what type of vehicle is covered and is clearly stated on the front side of the rental agreement. CDW is included in the price of all our rentals.

The excess of this insurance depends on the vehicle booked, please contact us for further information.

The Renter is responsible for any loss or damage to the Vehicle, regardless of the cause, as well as any subsequent losses or damages, throughout the duration of this rental agreement, or during any approved extensions to the agreement, up to the specified excess amount of NZD 7500 per individual occurrence.

Super Collision Damage Waiver SCDW (recommended):

All rentals are covered by roadside assistance.

SCDW self-risk depends on the model reserved and can go up to NZD 7500 per incident. You can reduce the self-risk of your campervan rental with the additional insurance options we offer. The self-risk would decrease from NZD 7500 to NZD 1000, 500, or even 0 depending on the additional insurance you select.

Please get in touch with us to verify the insurance details for the selected vehicle as they may vary depending on the model.

Roadside Assistance

All rentals are covered by roadside assistance.

In the event of an accident or damage, a report must be filled out and the renter should inform the provider. If the battery of the vehicle you are renting dies due to negligence during your rental, and you decide to utilize the breakdown service to recharge it, then you will be responsible for all of the costs incurred.

The Fuel Tank

The rental vehicle will be given with a full tank, and it should be returned with the same fuel level. If the vehicle was not given to you with a full tank, you should return the vehicle with the same fuel level at which you received it. Ensuring the fuel tank and LPG bottles are returned full is essential. Neglecting this requirement will lead to refilling fees, including NZD 2.50 per liter for fuel, NZD 40 per LPG bottle, along with a service charge of NZD 25.

Filling up using the wrong kind of fuel, accidentally putting fuel in the freshwater tank or making other mistakes that are not covered by the insurance company imply that the renter assumes responsibility for all expenses needed to remedy the problem.

Taxes

15% of the local value-added tax (VAT) is already included in all prices.

The lessee shall notify the lessor as soon as possible if the odometer is out of order or stops functioning during the term of the lease.
    7. The lessor is not responsible for the disappearance of or damage to property that the lessee or any other party leaves in or transports with the vehicle.

    12. The lessee is not authorized to use the vehicle to transport passengers for payment, lend it to others, or sublease it.

  3. The lessor shall inform the lessee of the content of this agreement, particularly as regards the obligations that the lessee undertakes by signing it.
